Cam Talbot stopped 40 shots in his first start for Detroit as the host Red Wings notched a 3-0 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night.Talbot, who signed a two-year contract as a free agent, collected his 32nd career shutout.J.T. Compher, Andrew Copp and Dylan Larkin each scored for the Red Wings.Juuse Saros, who missed the Predators’ opener with a lower-body injury, made 19 saves.Nashville forward Filip Forsberg played the 700th game of his career.Detroit forward Christian Fischer suffered an upper-body injury and did not play in the third period.Both teams lost their openers, with the Predators falling to the Dallas Stars, 4-3, and the Wings dropping a 6-3 decision to the Pittsburgh Penguins.Nashville had a big advantage in shots on goal in the first period but Talbot made 16 saves to keep the game scoreless. In contrast, Saros made eight saves.Both teams had a power-play opportunity in the opening period. Detroit defenseman Ben Chiarot was sent off for hooking and Nashville forward Steven Stamkos was whistled for slashing.
